shampoo conditioner beauty natural hair review Rihanna Beyonce rashida natural hair journey
Today it's time to review the HERBAL ESSENCES HELLO HYDRATION SHAMPOO on my natural hair.
This moisture & shine shampoo with Hawaiian coconut extract for dry/damaged hair is quite popular in the natural curly hair community, but not all the comments are positive.
I found this shampoo at Wilko and it was half price (I paid it £1.66 for 400ml, a real bargain!). I decided to give it a go since I run out of my favourite shampoo and I'm always on the look out for great products.
Before buying this product, I made some researches about the ingredients to see what's inside and I found out that NOT all the ingredients are NATURAL, so if you use just 100% natural products for your hair this is NOT the shampoo for you.
A very positive aspect about this shampoo is that it has a light consistency that helps spreading the product everywhere and the cap is really practical and easy to use, especially when having wet hands in the shower.
Another positive aspect is definitely the coconut smell on your hair after using it! I'm obsessed with everything coconut, so for me this is a very big plus!
The main negative side is definitely the presence of silicons, sulphates and other chemicals. Because of them, my hair didn't feel as clean as it usually feels after using shampoo.
To get the result in the picture below, I finished my hair routine with the TREsemme Naturals conditioner (link of the review here), finger detangled my hair, rinsed all the product out, repeated the whole procedure twice and at the end styled my hair.
In conclusion, I would give this shampoo a 7-.
Have you tried this product? What do you think about it?

I know there is a lot of fuss about silicone in hair products, but I have very damaged hair from styling and dyeing, so silicone works fine for me. I do have to wash my hair with something else every now and then.

I discovered thta some naturals don`t mind using sulphates & silicons, others don`t use them at all. I think is more a personal preference!
DeleteIm sure that works well but you should try Creme de coco shampoo n' conditioner

DeleteI'm glad you pointed out that it's not a natural product. There are FAR too many beauty products out there that claim to be natural, when in fact they are not. There isn't anything natural about Herbal Essences. The amount of fruit or plant extract that they use is so small and insignificant that it won't actually do anything for your hair.
ReplyDeleteI've stopped using Herbal Essences because of how horrible their products are on my hair. Maybe I've become too sensitive to it? I was a loyal customer of theirs for more than 10 years. Then I realized that this shampoo was the root of my problems (my scalp, hair, and even the skin on my hands were SO dry from their formula). Ugh...I can't trust them anymore.
Sorry about the rant! LOL! But thanks for your comment on my blog. I really like yours :) I'm now following you on Bloglovin.
